The Gokyo Lakes trek is one the most excellent and picturesque less trodden trek in Everest region. Gokyo trekking explore the real life Shangri-la with thundering rivers, peaceful valleys, pristine turquoise lakes, moonscape - like glacier with parade of snowy peaks. Trek to the high alpine Gokyo Lakes and a traverse of Renj pass links the stunning Gokyo valley to the remote Bhote Koshi valley makes a different trekking experience. Enjoying the Sherpa hospitality, we ascend through the rhododendron and conifer forest to the yak herders' settlements of sacred lakes of Gokyo and Gokyo Ri (5425m) to savor the majestic views of Lhotse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu, Everest - four of the eight highest mountain on earth wtih many more hovering in horizon.

Gokyo lakes is trekkers' paradise trekking route - a valley of vibrant turquoise lakes which are set among like jewels amidst the highest snowy peaks. A traverse onto the Renjo la to the dramatic solitary Bhote Koshi valley put you on the historical trade route between Nepal and Tibet. An exploration of less trekked Thame valley unveils the unspoiled himalayan sceneries. Expect to encounter with Tibetan traders while retracing your way back to Namche via the historical Himalayan settlement of Thami to end the exhilirating walking holiday trek to Gokyo lakes with Renjo pass.

Outline Itinerary of Gokyo Lakes Trek

Day 01 : Arrive in Kathmandu / dinner with cultural program.
Day 02 : Explore Buddhist Boudhnath and Hindu Pashupatinath temple.
Day 03 : Fly to Lukla and start Gokyo trek.
Day 04-05 : Trekking to Namche / acclimatization rest day
Day 06 : Trekking to Kumjung.
Day 07-08 : Trek to Gokyo lakes and enjoy the views of massive Cho Oyu.
Day 09-10 : Climb Gokyo Ri: witness the majestic look of Everest.
Day 11 : Trek to Lunden via Rinjo la pass (5425m.)
Day 12 : Trek to Thame
Day 13-15 : Trek down to Lukla via Namche and Phakding.
Day 16 : Fly back to Kathmandu.
Day 17 : Free day in Kathmandu.
Day 18 : Trip ends / airport transportation.

We would like to thank you and your team for such an amazing trip. We feel so lucky to have seen the Himalayas and to have had your assistance. The guides and Sherpas were so informative about the local areas and the mountain ranges and they were also lots of fun! We were very impressed with the medical training that the guides have and we really felt that we could trust them to look after us in the mountains. We would also like to say that the porters were so helpful and sweet natured. We will never forget our experience in Nepal and we would highly recommend Mountain Monarch to anyone who is interested in trekking in Nepal. We also enjoyed our time at the Hotel Shankar - it is nice to have a bit of luxury after such arduous trekking! It is great to stay in a good hotel that does not feel like a westernized chain. The hotel staff are very friendly and the hotel pool and garden is a welcome oasis of calm amongst all the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu.
