Environment issue
While operating tours and trekking program, protection of the fragile environment is our topmost concern. Mountain Monarch is aware of preserving & conserving the past glory of our ancestors and to hand over all the Natural and Cultural affluent to our next generation. As our lives have revolved around the Mountains & valleys, we feel bigger and increased responsibility to protect and preserve these Natural and cultural resources. We are committed to minimizing the negative impact of tourism and enable you to 'take only photos, leave only footprints'. We cook using kerosene or LPG gas and bring back all non-biodegradable items used on all trips. Being a member of KEEP (Kathmandu Environmental Education Project), we are organizing various 'Eco- Tourism Workshops in association to protect the fragile environment and indigenous cultures of the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal

Forestation Program
To put a brick on our commitments we have active involvement on forestation program jointly organized by Trekking Agencies Association Nepal at Kashi Bhanjang, Kavre every year on the World Environment Day.

Porter’s Children Education Fund
Children Education shows their future. We are committed on our policy of giving back to the respective communities. Thus Mountain Monarch is funding and sponsoring on the porter’s children education. It has separated 10% of the profit in the different social activities including Porter’s Children Education Fund. We welcome anyone interested kind contribution in our mission to provide better education to the many more deprived children.

Building School and Drinking Water Project
Mountain Monarch is aware of its role on social responsibility. We therefore assist to enthusiastic individuals, groups and organizations on the genius support to local communities development for school building and drinking water project in the remote region.

We have been building Primary School at Gibang in association of our Sandiago friends and sister school project co-ordinate by Ron and Debbie Plotkin. Under preparation and planning stay for the Drinking Water Project at Nepani, Magdi district in association with Guildford District Scout Group, UK.

Staff welfare / Porter Protection Policy
We believe in taking responsibility and caring all of our staff from Trek Leaders to Sherpas, Cooks and Porters. We ensure good pay, life insurance, helicopter evacuation if reqruied, as well as the equipment and clothing needed for porters and each member of staff. Mountain Monarch has fulfilled all the standard set by IPPG (International Porter Protection Group) for the welfare and safety of all porters and is committed to improving their livelihoods. They are our kith and kin as well as the backbone of trekking in Nepal. No wonder all of the staff including porters want to work for us over and over again. We have set some noticeable guidelines, which we are applying in our trips as a Porter Protection Policy.

  • Good & fair working wages.
  • Fair weight around 25 kilos only
  • Same standard of medical care for Porters / trek staff / trek members
  • Arrangement of Food and Accommodation
  • Accidental / medical insurance
  • No porter is asked to return from the middle of trek
  • We provide required trekking gears for all the porter like Gortex wind & water proof jacket and trousers, fleece jacket, mattress & blanket / sleeping bag, woolen warm hat, woolen gloves, woolen socks, trekking shoes / boots, sunglasses etc
  • If any porter gets sick and required to send him back them we never send him alone but with someone who speaks same language and understands the problem. Sufficient financial support will be provided to sick porter and helper to cover the cost of their return and treatment.

A BIG thank to everyone at Mountain Monarch for the FIVE STAR outstanding service we received to the top of Mera Peak. An unforgettable experience with lots of happy memories!

-------------------------------------------
I experienced a severe case of High Altitude Cerebral Edema at Gorak Shep and had to be put in the Portable Altitude Oxygen Chamber for number of hours, before descending the next morning. The quick actions of the trek leader and other MM staff, perhaps Saved my life. They are all a credit to your company
