Langtang region is another popular trekking
destination in Nepal, considered by many trekkers
to be one of Nepal's best-kept secrets. It
is easily accessible without flight, just
north of Kathmandu with soaring peaks on either
side of the valley. Langtang trekking unfolds
the colorful culture, religion and traditions
of Tibetan origin ethnic groups on the back
dropped of stunning mountain sceneries. Changes
in elevation combined with the complex topography
and geology have produced a unique patchwork
of vegetation in this region. This relatively
less trekked Langtang region’s trekking
route heads through a varied landscape ranging
from evergreen forests, cascading waterfalls
and turbulent streams to sub-alpine grasslands
and closer to the peak profile of Langtang
Lirung (7246m), Gang Chhenpo (6388m), Lenpo
Gang (7083m), Dorje Lakpa (6990m). The legendary
Himalayan explorer and mountaineer Bill Tillman
said of Langtang that it was 'One of the world's
most beautiful valleys'.
