Trekkers reviews on Annapurna Dhaulagiri trekking
Trekkers feedback and review on 2 weeks teahouse trekking holiday to less trodden adventure trip to Annapurna Dhaulagiri
A well managed company with Pradip at the helm who has great communication and organisational abilities. We had such capable and interesting leaders in Dipen and Prakesh who were a source of constant support and amusement to us on our trekking journey. It was an enhanced experience walking with the Mountain Monarch Nepalese team and I particularly enjoyed learning Nepalese and playing UNO with them all. Any concerns we had were worked out and options offered .I would definitely travel with Mountain Monarch again and hope to do so in the next few years. with thanks to the M. Monarch TEAM.
Vicky and I would like to thank Mountain Monarch for an excellent 2 week adventure in Nepal and Himalaya in March 2016. From our pickup at the airport to departure we were looked after really well. Our guide Dawa and our porter Ram were courteous and kind all the way. The trip was a great mix of cultural tour (1 day), rafting (1 day) and trekking (10 day). I will always remember our rafting day … “please Sir, swim for pleasure !?” … and the generosity of Dawa, Ram, and Pradip. You probably cannot find a better value package for a Nepali adventure.
” You will get personalised service with Mountain Monarch. This Annapurna Dhaulagiri trip was my SECOND adventure with them. Their porters are treated with dignity and respect. So you will get to know your Sherpas and porters as friends before the end of your trek. Mr. Pradip, the owner of Mountain Monarch is thoughtful, trustworthy, and professional in every sense of the word. Your email will be promptly answered however simple it is and have professional advice to all your inquiries. You will be personally met at Kathmandu’s airport and at the end of the trek, you will driven to the airport for your departure. Mr. Pradip will personally await your arrival at the hotel to greet you, like one of the family. They will stay with you until you pass through the door of the airport at your departure. Mountain Monarch is THE leader in Nepal trekking. All necessary drugs and precautions are brought along during the trek in case someone gets into trouble. All the Sherpas and porters used by Mountain Monarch are top shelf. They are friendly, caring, and genuine. You will be treated like family throughout your trek. In fact, as I write this review, I am contemplating a third trek with Mountain Monarch. Thank you again Mr. Pradip for making my visit to Nepal memorable once again.”
Thank you Mountain Monarch for a simply amazing trek in Annapurna! Everything was extremely well organized from the very first emails to the final drop off at the airport. Pradip went out of his way to answer emails within hours, and he frequently checked in with us while in Kathmandu to make sure things were going smoothly. He even led our tour around Pashupatinath and Bhaudanath. Our guides, Dipen and Nima, went above and beyond looking out for us throughout the trek. They took care of everything so all we had to do was simply relax and enjoy being in such a beautiful place. Safety was their top priority – from providing hand sanitizer with meals, filling our water bottles with boiled, filtered water every day, leach removal (haha!), and carrying a fully stocked first aid kit. One of the trekkers in our group got a little GI bug, and both Dipen and Nima checked in with her frequently, recommending electrolyte hydration packets and options for antibiotics if it got worse. I’m a pharmacist, and I was impressed with how much they knew their drugs! Our porters, Veejay and Khush, hauled our heavy bags all over the mountains without complaint and even showed off their cooking skills a few days (wow!!). And besides being extremely professional, the four of them were all around fun guys to hang out with :) We were on the mountain when the tragic Cyclone Hudhud hit. Fortunately we were not on the circuit, but the harsh wind and rain at Khopra Ridge forced us to change our plans. Dipen kept an eye on the weather on his phone and made the call to delay our descent down until the wind died down. After hearing about the lives lost at Thorong Pass, it became clear how truly invaluable it is to have experienced guides. I loved this trek in particular because of the combination of popular destinations (Poon Hill, Ghorepani, Tadapani) along with some quiet, off the beaten path, hidden gems like Swanta, Chistabung, and the stunning Khopra Ridge. Some days we didn’t see any other trekkers at all, and we had the tea house all to ourselves! Thank you again for a fabulous trekking experience…already planning my return!
just returned from my second trekking in Nepal with Mountain Monarch and I have really enjoyed the experience. Me and my father have been trekking for 15 days doing the Annapurna Base Camp, Khopra ridge and Poon Hill trek on a customized basis with the guides cum porters Bijaya and Jaya. They brought us to the best lodges and always took care to call the tea houses in advance so we could have a private room. In some places where they didn’t have good cooks, they cooked delicious food for us, as they work as cooks in India during the monsoon season. I would like to thank Pradip as well, for being so patient responding the numerous mails I sent prior to my departure and giving me the best advise. I am already thinking about my next trekking in Nepal, and it will be for sure with Mountain Monarch.

We have recently returned from the Annapurna Dhaulagiri Trek which is our 2nd Trek with MM. From the first emails, which Pradip manages to answer quickly despite the time difference, all details of the trek is managed for you, from airport pickup and drop off, all accommodation and transport to and from trek starting point, be it private car or flight. While on trek the guides will ensure that the food is properly prepared and that the water is boiled and safe to drink. We had 2 very enjoyable days in Kathmandu before our trek with Ram who guided us on a day hike and cultural tour, he is very knowledgeable and has a great sense of humour. Our 2 porters were always on hand if needed. Thanks again to Nima, who guided us last year and Jay our 2nd guide for their patience and encouragement. We know we are in good hands and our safety and well being is given top priority. Thanks again to Pradip who makes it all happen. We are already thinking about returning to Nepal next year and will of course use MM. If you are looking for a professional company for trekking/climbing then look no further as MM will deliver what they promise with 5 star service.
We have recently returned from an Annapurna Panorama Trek organised by Mountain Monarch and we would give them full marks for the overall experience.
Pradip was excellent in promptly answering our many questions both prior to our trip and also after we arrived in Kathmandu. The trek was harder than we anticipated but the safety and care were excellent and above the call of duty, especially from our leader Krish.
Everything was sorted to the last detail and we would not hesitate recommending Mountain Monarch to other people or using them again in the future.
For details about the trek reviewed, visit this website: https://www.mountainmonarch.com/annapurna-dhaulagiri-trek/ Our group chose Mountain Monarch Adventures based on their being a Nepali company with experienced management and guides, excellent training, and their prompt responses when we asked questions during the planning stages of our trip. Communications were excellent, and both knowledge and customer care were evident from the start. We participated in the 15 day Annapurna-Dhaulagiri Trek in November 2013. Mountain Monarch took excellent care of everyone in our group, from meeting us at the airport, to cultural tours, to dealing with our individual abilities day to day, and to providing extra care when one person needed to leave the group for medical attention, and getting us back to the airport at the end. We thank Pradip for excellent planning; Karma, Ramesh, Jai, Ram, Sita, and Pasang for their care of all of us during the trek, and another Ram for our cultural tours. Thanks also to our drivers whose names I didn’t catch. I would especially like to compliment these folks for keeping the group together, answering our many questions, accommodating personal differences in abilities, looking out for our safety, and making alternative plans when our planned safari wasn’t possible due to election related disturbances. The trek itself allowed us to see some of the popular trekking route in the Annapurna region, and then to get “off the beaten path” into less busy areas where we were on small trails, able to see wildlife, and to enjoy nature without the crowds. The tea houses we stayed in were basic yet friendly, comfortable, and served up plentiful simple meals. Mountain Monarch provided warm sleeping bags and down jackets which were useful at the higher elevations. Their staff appeared to be adequately supplied also. I would recommend this company to anyone thinking of traveling in Nepal, or Tibet or Bhutan also. They offer a wide variety of treks, mountain expeditions, and tours and will provide appropriate staff for the adventures you choose.
Just returned from a trip to Nepal with my 11 year old son where we did a trek in Annapurna, white water rafted and did a jungle safari in Chitwan. We were accompanied by two of my friends and three other children so a group of 7 all up.
Mountain Monarch was amazing, even better than in 2009 where they organized a trekking peak expedition for 5 of us that went without a hitch. This trip went without a hitch as well and again with everything being organized so we didn’t have to worry about any logistics at all. In addition, Mountain Monarch really went the extra mile – provided 2 extra guides – 4 in total (to safeguard the kids a bit more on the trail) and a safety kayaker on the white-water rafting (in case one of the kids fell out) without being asked and at no extra cost. Indeed they lowered the price a bit because some of their permitting costs were reduced for kids.
Our lead guide (Finjo) had summited Everest – what a buzz for the kids to be getting compass lessons from an Everest summiteer! Even more impressive Finjo has academic qualifications in child development and had an amazing rappore with them! Finjo stayed with us through all parts of the trip which really helped.
Pradip, the managing director was always available and indeed essentially operates out of the hotel in Kathmandu where we stayed. I had asked Pradip a favour, whether some certificates could be made and presented to the kids on their return – Pradip readily ageed and the certificates were very well done (the kids are very proud of them, my boy has his on his wall).
Only negative was the white water rafting lead guide wasn’t particularly “child friendly” – not awful, just not used to kids rafting would be my guess – this part of the trip was sub-contracted but I mentioned this minor issue to Pradip and I am sure he will review his sub-contractor for the next time.
I have personally been to Nepal 5 times, I am likely to return in 2015 and will certainly be utilising Mountain Monarch again.
That the porters and Sherpa worked as a team that each team member was valued highly. Fantastic safety advice given, water always boiled, great variety of food, very hygienic Toilet tent with seat was fantastic..
