Bhaktapur Durbar Square:
Bhaktapur means the city of devotees is in the world heritage sites situated on the way to Tibet. It used to be the capital city of Kathmandu valley in 15th century, in the time of king Yaksha Malla.
It is 32 km from Kathmanu and situated in an elevation of 2175m which gives an ample of opportunity to view the towering mountain range standing before you, starting from Dhaulagiri in the west to Mt. Everest and Kanchenjunga in the east via Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Shisapangma, dorge Lakpa and Gauri Shanker.
It is 36 km from Kathmandu and said that the whole town of Panauti is on a single rock. It is situated in the confluence of two rivers Roshi and Pungamati Khola.In every twelve year there happen to be a big festival. Once, it was a trading route to Tibet and had a royal palace in its main square.It is still fascinating and alive of its traditional architecture with many interesting temples. It is 32 km from Kathmanu and situated in an elevation of 1550m.The town is in the main Araniko highway heading towards Tibet. The natives of the town are Newars. On the weekend days, we can see lot of people going to visit the temples around the town and uphill.It is a great place to view the mountain ranges.
It is an important Buddhist pilgrimage site. A legend relates that the Buddha, came across tigress close to death from starvation and unable to feed her cubs. The Buddha allowed the hungry tigress to consume him. A marble tablet representing the event Trangho gompa on the hill above the stupa marks the holy site.Now a days, it is becoming a popular destination for further studies in Buddhism and a beautiful site to view the Himalayan ranges.
The temple of the Goddess Kali, the tantric goddess of terror lies 28 Kms from Kathmandu, at the Southern edge of the Kathmandu Valley. In the confluence of two rivers.Devotees visit this temple each Tuesday and Saturday to make sacrificial offerings to appease the Goddess “Kali”.Non Hindus are not allowed to enter the main sanctum. There is a open platform from where one can view the happening of inside the temple.
It is a traditional newari town which lies 19km from Kathmandu. Once, it was a get way to go away from the valley towards lowland. The site is popular pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhist.
