Nepal Records Tourist Arrival in 2018
Tourist arrival in Nepal crosses 1 million bench mark for the first time in 2018 with remarkable growth of 25 per cent. Nepal has welcomed 1,173,072 tourists in 2018 compare to 940,218 in 2017. There is phenomenal growth of double digit visitor arrival continue from the 2016. Despite the fears for the industry rose after a devastating earthquake in 2015. Unfortunately it killed nearly 9,000 people and destroyed many of the country’s heritage sites, tourism sector remarkable managed to come back. Visitors arrival increased from India, China, USA, Sri Lanka and the UK has greatly contributed the historical growth on tourist arrival in 2018.
Indian Tourist recorded 25% and similarly Chinese 47% and Sri Lankan 57 % in 2018 over the last year. European travellers’ arrival recorded double digit healthy growths. 243,284 European visited Nepal in 2018 including 63,086 from UK, 36,833 from Germany and 31,653 from France.
Total number of US visitors to Nepal in 2018 was 91,785, an increase of 16 per cent over the figures of the previous year. Likewise, the number of Australian visitors to Nepal in 2018 stood at 38,408, which is 15.1 per cent more than in 2017.
The year last two months of November and December tourist arrival did positively surprise the tourism industry in Nepal. Record growth of 47 per cent increase in 2018 in compared to the same months in 2017
