Ama Dablam Expedition - the World's most Technical Climb in the Himalayas

Ama Dablam Expedition offers the best technical climbing experience in the Himalayas. Our curated climbing itinerary of the Amadablam expedition maximizes every climber's chance to scale it. There is no doubt that the colossal Amadablam peak in Nepal is one of the World's most impressive peaks to climb. Due to its unique, sharply pointed, soaring shape, ascending this sheer peak is the ultimate dream of climbers. They aspire to conquer it and stand on the extraordinary summit. In addition, it offers impeachable summit panoramic views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu, and many more Himalayan peaks. Suppose you have good previous climbing experience and wish to participate fully as a team member of an expertly led expedition. In that case, climbing Ama Dablam peak provides the ultimate challenge to the World's most technical climb.

The climb to the summit of the Ama Dablam peak is technically demanding. It presents every supreme challenge imaginable: ice, rock, scrambling, breathtaking views, and great approaches. It has a wonderfully situated base camp in a meadow with a stream. All climbers must have excellent rock and ice climbing skills and be technically competent to join this Ama Dablam Climbing. Though there will be fixed ropes, all climbers should have good knowledge and practice climbing on steep rocks and rugged, compact ice. We follow the standard South West ridge route to the summit. This route is considered the safest, free from most dangers, such as avalanches. During the challenging Ama Dablam expedition, we always try to keep you completely safe and happy.

Amadablam Climbing Route

We have crafted our climb Amadablam climbing itinerary with proper acclimatization on our way to the expedition base camp. Our expedition crews stock food, other logistics, and all the required climbing gear at base camp. This is the base station to start our bid to scale the summit.

The challenging Amadablam climb begins to the southwest ridge from base camp - over boulder fields, slabs, cairns, and gullies to reach Camp 1 at 5700 meters. From Camp I., we follow the east side of the ridge and continue our climb on narrow crests and traverses until we can climb onto the west side of the hill. The short section of the most challenging pitch leads to Camp II, a very narrow camping space. Then, we continue climbing the ridge to the excellent, tricky traverse eastward. This route leads to the gully between the Grey Tower and other rocky structures to reach our Ama Dablam expedition Camp III.

We start our Amadablam climb summit day push from Camp II following the southwest ridge to the summit, crossing many obvious and deep crevasses. The joy and pride you will feel in conquering the fabulous Amadablam peak in Nepal are beyond imagination. Your successful historic ascent to the summit will reward you with an outstanding, breathtaking, panoramic mountain view. The successful climb to the colossal peak of Amadablam summit cherishes the everlasting memories you will treasure all your life.

    Ama Ddablam 2018

Climb Ama Dablam with a mountain monarch and a team of amazing people worldwide.
The expedition was very well organized with the confidence of strong and knowledgeable professionals—very well money spent that I will never regret. Therefore, I 100 percent recommend mountain monarch. When I first booked with mountain monarch, I had my doubts, but after the experience, I will probably do another expedition with them.

Detailed, safe and successful ascent of Ama Dablam 2018

We were on the first expedition to Ama Dablam that Mountain Monarch organized themselves. The company was open and forthright about that fact and provided plenty of support to ensure a safe and successful summit. They provided all the technical gear except for double boots. This included the harness, helmet, ascender, Carabiners, accessory cords, ice axe, sleeping bag, and much more if needed. The acclimatization plan was comprehensive and explained to us right at the beginning. Before we left Kathmandu, the climbing guides reviewed our gear to ensure we were well-equipped for the climb.

Outside the gear, we had plenty of guides to help us along the way. By the time we were ready for the summit, we had more than one guide per person. The luxury of this arrangement is that we had individual checks of our safety lines to give us immediate support if we needed it.

The itinerary had built in a lot of acclimatization before reaching Ama Dablam. We trekked through Renjo pass and Chola pass and climbed Lobuche East (6119 m) to refresh our technical skills. For those unfamiliar with using a Jumar/ascender, we spent a rest day reviewing gear and training on a large boulder. We were all very comfortable with the elevation when we reached Ama Dablam base camp. On top of that, the climbing schedule for Ama Dablam is comprehensive. There is no reason to be if you are worried about rushing up the mountain. On the contrary, we spend a lot of time exposed to the elements, so staying warm and healthy is essential.

The plan generally had a week of contingency in case of bad weather. We were hit with high winds during this trek during our summit window. Mountain Monarch allowed us to descend to Pangboche to wait for the weather to clear. This was an extra cost to them that was not passed down to us!

At base camp, we were equipped with a group dining tent, personal sleeping tents (with a down Exped mattress), an outhouse, and an altar for the Puja ceremony. Having our tent to rest in was a comfort I never expected. Another luxury was the charging station that would kick on every night during dinner service. We had about 3 hours to charge our phones and battery packs in the dining tent. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were provided and served with a smile. When we returned from our successful summit, they made us a cake to celebrate!

Overall, I felt much attention was given to us to ensure our safety and comfort. The plan was thorough and well-executed by all of the guides and Sirdar. We even had a helicopter take us back to Lukla to catch a flight out to Kathmandu on the same day! All 4 of us who left the base camp for the summit bid climbed the Amadablam peak together – an outstanding achievement. I’m thrilled I picked Mountain Monarch to go up Ama Dablam.
