14 Days Everest Base Camp Hike in Nepal

This 14 Days Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the most famous treks in Nepal. It is one of the short hiking to the base camp of Mt Everest in Khumbu. As the name suggests, the hike culminates at the base camp of the highest mountain in the world. Hence, we ensure plenty of interaction with the beauty of the Sagarmatha National Park. Apart from Mt. Everest, there are many other mountains, like Lhotse (8516m), Cho Oyu (801m), and Ama Dablam (6856m). The beautiful culture and heritage of the Sherpas add more charge to this hike.

Hiking Itinerary to the Bse Camp

Like any other trip to Nepal, the 14 days Everest base camp hiking begins with your arrival in Kathmandu. After preparing for the trek, you will take a scenic flight to Lukla. Next, you will start the walk across the Dudh Koshi River. Then, the trail continues north and passes Chheplung village on the way to Phakding. Further, the trail enters the Sagarmatha National Park and goes past Jorsalle. You can enjoy the Sherpa culture, hotels, restaurants, and ATMs here. After spending a day in the village, you will cross Sanasa and follow the Imja River to Tengboche. It offers a surreal view of Mt. Ama Dablam (6812m). You can visit the Tengboche Monastery and get blessings from the monks.

The EBC route map stretches across the eastern Khumbu region and passes Dingboche. Next, the trip heads to Thukla village and crosses the Thukla Pass (4830m). Finally, the trail hugs the Khumbu Glacier and reaches Lobuche. Further, you will continue your hike to Gorak Shep on your way to the base camp. The views of Khumbu Glacier and Icefall, a magnificent vista. The next morning we hike to Kala Patthar. This vantage point is known to offer mesmerizing sights of the Himalayas like Mt. Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m), Cho Oyu (8201m), and Nuptse (7861m). We retrace following the Imja River and resume at Namche Bazaar. Then, you make another descent to Lukla village. Finally, you will take a flight back to Kathmandu, bringing the trip to a close.

    Fantastic Trek

I trekked with Mountain Monarch to Everest Base Camp in April 2014. It was my first ever solo trip abroad. However, Mountain Monarch made it easy by providing airport transfers and hotel accommodations. The trek was fantastic, along with all the staff: from guides to porters, everyone in the group was helpful and friendly.

It is definitely, one of the best experiences of my life, and I thoroughly recommend Mountain Monarch to anyone considering trekking in Nepal.

    Safe and Successful Trek

I traveled to Nepal by myself in December 2013; as it turned out, I was the only member on my trek! Pradip and his team promised me a safe and successful walk even without any other customers, precisely what they delivered! Krish, my guide, spoke excellent English and took care of me and all of my needs; Rahm, my porter, was also excellent company and a great asset both in the tea houses and while taking my bag to the next stop.

After seeing other companies during the trek, I was grateful that I had chosen Mountain Monarch. The daily medical checks to ensure I was acclimatizing to the altitude, wake-up calls with tea (and then evening tea with cookies after settling into tea houses!), and the loan of specialist gear like thick down jackets and heavy-duty sleeping bags are some of the things that made the company stand out from the rest! All accommodation was basic but of a high standard for the region. Food was plentiful, varied, and tasty, and all tea houses had internal bathrooms, a significant plus when trekking in winter. We also changed the trekking route due to fitness and weather limitations (Which was also helped by trekking in the low season when tea houses were not filled). Krish and I talked each day all day for the entire trek, which was enjoyable, and I now consider him a great friend I am so lucky to have met.

Cost-wise – I could not find a cheaper company to trek with that included everything Mountain Monarch did. Although, food on the walk, medicine (i.e., Diamox for altitude sickness), and airport transfers was included, unlike other providers I looked at.

As far as trekking alone goes – I met other tour groups on the trek at the different tea houses, so I was never without company – And I consider those people I met to be some of the best adventurers with the most varied backgrounds I could ever hope to meet!

Pradip, all my friends, want to know how the trek went, and I recommend your company should they choose to see Nepal. My Mum has seen the photos and is considering going as far as Pangboche! Will be in contact when we coordinate dates to come back! Thanks for being part of the most exciting and best holiday I have ever had!
