Short Vacation Treks in Nepal
If you love exploring the wild but don’t have time for a full trek, you can choose treks in Nepal route that are short, yet bear the same charm as their longer counterparts. Here are some trekking routes that you can enjoy on your short vacation to Nepal.
Poon Hill Trek, 4-5 Days, 3210 m:
The Poon Hill trek is one of the most popular among all short treks in Nepal. This trek can be accomplished within a few days and has no risk of altitude sickness. Poon Hill trek starts along the beautiful Modi Khola, an hour's drive from Pokhara. After crossing the suspension bridge over the river, one can see an ultimate scenic landscape, a terrace of rice fields, and a wonderful view of Machhapuchhare. One of the prime attractions of the trip is Ghandruk, a lively heritage village of the Gurung community. The village lies within the Annapurna Conservation Area (ACA) and contains many guesthouses that provide lodging and meals for the mountain trekkers. The Poon Hill trek is popular for a mesmerizing view of the sunrise atop the hill along with a spectacular view of the Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Nilgiri, and other famous mountains of the region.
Gosainkunda Trek, 6 Days, 4380 m:
Gosainkunda is a famous pilgrimage site for Hindus, which is located in Langtang National Park in Rasuwa district. The treks in Nepal to Gosainkunda can be started from Syabrubesi in Langtang or from Sundarijal in Kathmandu if you have a few days extra. The first few days of the trek are ascending through the forest with the view of Langtang Himal and Annapurna at a distance. Starting from Syabrubesi, Dhunche, the first day will lead towards a long steady climb to Chandan Bari. The second day's rest is at the tea houses of Lauribinayak and the next day's hike is to the lakes in the early morning. During the trek, Basic accommodation is easily available with tea houses offering a variety of food and snacks.
Everest Panorama - 5 / 6 Days, 3440 m:
This short treks in Nepal are suitable for all with the desire to go near Everest but don’t have the time for a trip to the Everest base camp or those who don’t want to climb high. The trek begins with a 45 minutes flight to Lukla airport from Kathmandu. From Lukla, a walk along the Dudh Koshi river will lead to the beautiful Sherpa village of Namche Bazaar. The next day’s trip is to Syangboche, which offers a breathtaking view of Everest and the entire range of majestic mountain scenery. One of the major highlights of the trek is the biggest village of the Sherpa community in Khumjung, which contains exotic monasteries and the Hillary School.
Jomsom Trek, 5 Days, 2720 m:
The Jomsom valley offers a magnificent view of the Himalayan ranges. An eye-soothing scenic beauty of mountains Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri is the major attraction of the trip. The beautiful Kaligandaki River is also an asset of the Jomsom valley. This trip begins with a flight from Pokhara to Jomsom and a three hours walk to Kagbeni. This is followed by a walk to Marpha the next day which takes around 1.5 hrs and returning. The walk to Muktinath the next day takes around 5 hours. The trek back to Jomsom after an overnight stay and a flight back to Pokhara ends this wonderful journey.
