Our experience with Mountain Monarch was truly memorable. We are both experienced travelers in Asia and would not normally utilize the services of an agency. On this occasion, it was just as well we did, as there was a national emergency in Nepal, and Mountain Monarch proved to be a good friend to have in a crisis.

We will not hesitate to recommend MM if you want friendly, professional, reliable, and personal service. You really can not go wrong. Thanks again for a wonderfully unique experience.

Mountain Monarch was exceptional in every way, beginning with clear and fast communications in preparation for the climb before I got to Nepal and helping to arrange my in-country flights in and out of the Khumbu valley. I was at the summit with another climber who got sick and had to climb the next day. MM could have saved themselves a lot of trouble by having us both go the next day, but instead, they went the extra mile, and I was able to summit on the day planned, a perfect, sunny, windless day.

The climbing Sherpa, Tsheten, was the perfect support for the climb, setting a pace at which I would summit just past dawn and handling all rope safety and routing. I always felt safe and like the situation was under control, as he clearly knew what he was doing and was highly experienced. All other aspects of the trip, the guide, kitchen staff, top-quality equipment, and comfortable tents that kept wind on the outside, were equally excellent. On the day I got to base camp, 4 climbers came down, 3 of whom submitted.

The other became disoriented and nearly unconscious up on the glacier. The climbing Sherpa and guide took him down to a safe point, with one continuing down and the other returning to guide the three climbers to the top. If something goes wrong with you or someone in your group, these are the guys you want looking after you, from what I could gather when they all came down. Top-quality operation all around.

We have done several treks with Mountain Monarch, with our first trek being the Annapurna Circuit in January 2006. It was an amazing trek where we were totally looked after, from being picked up at the airport to being dropped off at the airport some three weeks later. Our trekking crew (Subash, Dana & Santa) got us over Throng La, around the circuit & back to Kathmandu with minimal fuss. The views were stunning as we walked in valleys under the giants of the Himalayas.

Along the way, the boys also helped locals & other independent trekkers where needed. Our second trek was the Langtang trek we did over Christmas 2007 with CP, Purba & Ram. This trek was different from our first trek as it had wide-open views of the mountain ranges that unfolded in front of us. Again we were well looked after, with the boys preparing one of the most delicious meals (Nepali chicken style) we have ever had on the last day of our trek.

In February 2015, we did the lower region of trekking in Manaslu, reuniting with our original crew of Subash, Dana, Santa & many others. This was a camping trek completely different from our other treks. We were in a remote area that seldom saw trekkers walking through forests, terraced fields & villages. Instead, we saw amazing views of the nearby ranges & were fortunate to see locals going about their daily lives. Each of these treks differed from the other & we are currently researching our next trek with Mountain Monarch to another new location in this beautiful country.

We chose Mountain Monarch primarily because they were a local company, and plenty of time was allocated to allow for acclimatization. Unlike some other companies, MM allowed plenty of time to acclimatize, which therefore maximized our chances of a successful trek and climb. The trek and climb were well organized, and the equipment provided (4-season sleeping bag, 2 man tent, ice axe) was more than adequate.

While trekking, we stayed in tea houses that were mainly of a high standard and clean and comfortable. The food was good, and there was plenty of it. We followed our guide's advice and avoided certain foods and, as a result, experienced no stomach complaints. While climbing Chulu West, we moved away from the main trekking route and stayed in tents. We had an excellent cook and assistant who produced a variety of tasty meals. Our climbing Sherpa Sange was a great character with many years of experience.

He ensured that our climb went without incident, and it was an absolute pleasure to spend time with him. Dawa, our guide, looked after our daily needs and ensured that our trekking was hassle-free. Our MM crews were a great bunch who looked after us well. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Nepal and would not hesitate to recommend Mountain Monarch to others.

I just wanted to drop you a line and tell you how much we enjoyed our trip to Island peak with Mountain Monarch. Everything was great, including the weather. Your company is first-class in all respects.

I knew exactly what I needed to bring. All the staff I met were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, and I felt safe with them. The overall experience was fantastic. It was like a family Trip. If I can go on another mountaineering trip, it will definitely be with MMA.

In terms of the trek, everything went really well…..Karma is an excellent guide, one of the best I have had on all my trekking trips, so we were very happy with everything, and for that, thank you. I will certainly recommend you to friends and will be back to Nepal again with your team in the next 2 years

I wanted to express my thanks to all at Mountain Monarch for the excellent service you gave to Nadine and me on our recent Island Peak trek. As you know, I experienced a severe case of High Altitude Cerebral Edema at Gorak Shep and had to be put in the Portable Altitude Oxygen Chamber for some hours before descending the following day.

The quick actions of the trek leader and other MM staff perhaps Saved my life. They are all a credit to your company. I would not hesitate to use MM again in any future trip to Nepal; perhaps, with the help of Diamox, I will one day complete the ascent of Island peak.

Mountain Monarch is every bit as good as their excellent website. I chose them for a spring Island Peak trip because of their professionalism, value for money, and, not least, because they were a local Kathmandu-based company. I have been particularly impressed by the friendliness, knowledgeableness, and attention to detail that characterizes this company, from the Managing Director down to the porters. This all contributed to a trip of a lifetime. Anyone thinking of visiting the incredible Himalayas should look no further!

The Island Peak climbing trip was exceptionally well organized, and the Mountain Monarch team, including guides, porters, and cooks, were all extremely pleasant, knowledgeable, and helpful. This was indeed a trip where the delivery was more significant than the promises, and I felt safe at all times with the experienced team around me. Upon returning from the top of Island Peak, the group appeared happier for me than I even was. Excellent trip, and looking forward to my next one.
